Compass 2024: A Leadership Journey That Shaped Us

A group of student leaders from Portside Christian College had the privilege of attending Compass 2024 in Canberra—an experience that proved to be identity-shaping, both spiritually and personally.

Throughout the conference, we were encouraged to go deeper in our understanding of God and His Word. We explored how to read the Bible in context—considering its text type, time of writing, and the world in which it was written. We also unpacked the nature of the Trinity and what it truly means to follow Jesus, reflecting on the different styles of leadership He displayed during His time on Earth. These sessions were not only thought-provoking but incredibly valuable for our growth as young Christian leaders.

Yet, the learning didn’t stop there.

Some of our most meaningful moments came from simply being together—sharing conversations, stories, and reflections at the hotel, the Australian War Memorial, and Parliament House. We built connections with leaders from across Australia, gaining insight into their schools, leadership cultures, and the ways they’re making a difference in their communities.

This experience taught us more than leadership—it taught us how to live with purpose. It shaped how we view Scripture, how we walk with God, and how we relate to those around us. Most importantly, Compass 2024 left us with new friendships, deeper faith, and memories we’ll carry for life.
